Now on its 10th year of lighting up the Philippines, Ayala Land, Inc. teams up with The Walt Disney Company, Philippines, in bringing a magical holiday to remember though “Reimagine The Magic: A Festival of Lights.” The magic of Disney is reimagined in this year’s light show featuring well-loved Disney soundtracks such as “When You Wish Upon A Star”, Beauty and the Beast”, and “Let It Go” in orchestral rendition arranged by the seasoned composer and former musical director of Hong Kong Disneyland, Mr. Rony Fortich. The medley is complemented by the spectacular lighting effects once again by Mr. Voltaire de Jesus.
Senior Vice President of Ayala Land, Ms. Meean B. Dy shares, “The partnership with Disney comes at a most momentous time for us as we celebrate our 30th year as a company and the 10th year of the Festival of Lights. Disney’s music and stories span generations and there is no better soundtrack to define the well-loved traditions that mark the Filipino holidays and Ayala Land’s commitment to nurturing vibrant communities.” Here in Cagayan de Oro City, the magic is brought to us by Centrio Mall. Here’s a rundown on the program that took place last November 9, 2018, before the Festival of Lights commenced.
The Tonic Hues String Ensemble performed a Christmas Medley as the crowd filled the Activity Center.
Rochelle then set the bar high as she started the program with the Christmas hit “All I Want for Christmas”.
Next was Centrio Mall Operations Manager, Mr. Hammer Roa’s opening speech. He emphasized on reaching within our hearts to awaken the child in us. “We will be giving you magic,” he said.
The second set of performances was delivered by the USTP Sanghimig Chorale, Rochelle with the Agnus Dei Misamis Oriental Dancesport Team, Jehiele with the Zee Girl, and David with the FJ School of Performing Arts.
They performed “Here Comes Santa Claus”, “Jingle Bells”, Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”, “My Grown Up Christmas List” respectively.
Centrio Mall’s Marketing Manager, Ms. Carina Celine Caragdag, also gave a speech which focused on the mall’s upcoming Christmas activities.
The program finale kicked off with Ian Nuer’s jaw-dropping rendition of “O Holy Night”. The Liceo de Cagayan Drum and Bugle Corps then joined him on stage and filled everyone with Christmas cheer as they performed “Little Drummer Boy” and “Angels We Have Heard on High”.
The R04 Band provided the musical accompaniment for all the performers.
Finally, it was time for the parade for the Ceremonial Lighting. Everyone was excited as they marched on from the Activity Center to the Garden Area.
Department of Tourism Regional Director Marie Elaine Unchuan gave a brief speech and then it was time for the countdown.
3..2..1! The whole crowd was in awe as the entire garden area burst into life with lights and Disney music that simply made everyone nostalgic.
This year, the Festival of Lights is made more magical by special lasers and smoke that add drama to the whole attraction.
