The 1st Mindanao Truck Fair is hosted by Sterling Events Corporation and is proud to welcome everyone to this event and to the friendship city of Cagayan de Oro! The event will take place on August 23-27, 2018.
The Mindanao Truck Fair is more than just an assemblage of new and used trucks and their manufacturers or dealers, financial support service companies, truckers, logistics providers, other automotive-industry players, and end-users.
While certainly there are a parade of trucks and a throng of people, the Mindanao Truck Fair (MTF) is veritably a convergence, nestled on the genial grounds of Cagayan de Oro City and the SM Malls, these truck manufacturers and dealers, automotive service-related providers, truck consumers and those on the verge of entering into any truck-utilizing businesses, gather and commune to cut deals, establish connections, form relationships and of course, buy and sell trucks, after which emerges a closer and tighter-linked marketplace for the partakers in the truck industry.
This fair is merely the first of many to regularly in the future. Gone should be the days when a Mindanao-based truck needer of good-quality but fairly-priced unit had to go to Cebu, Manila or Subic to purchase it. Now, the MTF literally brings to his very doorsteps an array of choices ready for his grasp. Incidentally, SEC has walked the extra mile so to speak to ensure that everyone is safe, comfortable and enjoying not only this trucking experience but the fiesta atmosphere, as well – an ambiance that should be pervading at the duration of the fair throughout the exhibit venue and the city as a whole.
Mindanao hosts a fourth of the country’s more than 106 million people. It produces from 50% to 100% of the country’s major agricultural output (corn, coconut, coffee, cassava, banana, pineapple, rubber, etc.) And yet the number of trucks on both paved and rough roads supposed to move the people and the products are visibly and undeniably insufficient.
There are a number of factors that engender this need-availability disparity, foremost of which is higher and more prohibitive cost. Another factor is availability. An average Mindanao business person needing a good-quality truck would go to and source his unit from either Cebu, Manila or Subic. There is simply lack of readily available, good-quality and cheaper trucks in Mindanao. The holding, thus, of the 1st Mindanao Truck Fair (MTF) is an answer to a need and a nod to practicality: bring the trucks, the good and later-model ones, both pre-owned and new, to Mindanao. Mindanao end-users then shall have easier access to them at lower overall cost. It is as simple as that.
The MTF packs another reason for being; with the government’s strict implementation this year of the Euro-4 emission standard, coupled with its Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP), the public in general, and those Mindanao-based in particular, need to know more about these developments and to see for themselves the new vehicles designed or intended to meet the changes. That’s the apologia for the theme of “Changing times…changing trucks.”
Why Cagayan de Oro as the venue?
The reasons are mostly geographical, actually. A lightning-fast growing city and the center of Mindanao’s regional economy (Region X), it is, distance-wise, nearer to the major population hubs in the island, particularly those from the west (cities of Malaybalay, Valencia, etc.) Cagayan de Oro City, the City of Golden Friendship, could be the truck mecca of Mindanao in no time at all.
