Upon entering SM City Uptown Mall, you will immediately be greeted by a cute and charming bakery called Honey Bear Bakery.
It is a newly opened bakeshop and it offers gourmet breads, uniquely designed cupcakes, cakes and other pastries that will really catch your attention. Not only are they very colorful and creatively done, they taste good too!
What I really like about this bakery and pastry shop is its design. When I look at it, I like its inviting atmosphere and the cool vibe that it brings.
It looks like a cute café inside the mall yet it enables customers to experience a sort of “al fresco” dining set-up with its tiny chairs and tables. It’s like a place where small groups and families can gather for a short time to catch up, drink coffee and indulge in sweets and gourmet breads.
We were able to talk with Honey Bear’s Store Manager Ms. Lorena Apit and she said that the concept of the store is actually like a “take-counter” where people can drop by, grab some goodies and be on their way.
However, due to the increasing demand of customers who want to stay longer, they are planning to add more tables and chairs to meet this need.
Honey Bear Bakery started in SM City Marilao and it has expanded to various SM Supermalls within the country including in Cagayan de Oro. It is under the same owners of Amor Sbread Bakery which you can find at Limketkai Mall, only a cuter, more hip version.
What makes this bakery stand out for me is its unique, high quality products that are sold at very reasonable prices. For customers who want personalized cakes, Honey Bear Bakery can do just that as long as they give a 5-day allowance for these customized designs. The price of the personalized cake will depend on the type of design that the customers want.
Aside from breads, cakes, cupcakes and drinks, Honey Bear Bakery also sells pure honey called “Honey Jar” which is made in China. It is priced at P489 per jar but if customers buy two of these, they’ll get a P50 off on the 2nd jar. Honey Bear Bakery hopes to open more branches and be known as a hip bakeshop that offers top notch products that look good and taste good as well.
To ensure that they are able to meet customers’ needs and preferences, they constantly change their product designs, flavors and add variations. The best thing about Honey Bear Bakery products is that they don’t contain preservatives. That is why they have short expiration dates and as much as possible they want to serve fresh on a daily basis. Every 6 or 7pm daily, the bakeshop holds a “Buy 2 Get 1” promo to ensure that all products are consumed within the day.
