We are currently living in the Digital Age and because of this, people are fixated on updating their social media accounts like Facebook and Instagram with their experiences, adventures and the food they eat. That is why when choosing a restaurant, one must not only consider the food but the interior design of the place as well. It must have beautiful decors, furniture, concept and overall design to make it ideal for picture-taking and online-sharing.
Espressini Café has all of these features covered. Espressini is the Italian word for “a small cup of espresso”. It is situated at the 2nd level of Cagayan Town Center and held their Grand Opening last August 20, 2017 – Sunday.
The event was graced by several VIP Guests including; Vice Governor Gregorio Pelaez, City Councilor Jay Roa Pascual and covered by known media persons/bloggers in the city.
The opening day consisted of a blessing from a priest, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a short program that introduced the owners of the café, the brand ambassadors were also introduced to the crowd as well.
In addition, the guests were treated to a delicious lunch and a live music performance was available to serenade them while they feast on the food prepared for them.
Concept and Design
According to Ms. Anna, she and her business partners wanted to come up with a café that is both instagrammable and one that offers unique dishes at reasonable prices. It is their observation that there is none like this in the city yet.
The design of the café was laid out by their architect but they, the owners were the ones who chose it. In addition, they were also the ones who conceptualized everything from the decors, furniture and other important details of the establishment.
Their culinary consultant, Chef Edward David Mateo from Manila also helped them with the café’s design.
Menu Items Offered
Espressini Café offers a fusion of Filipino and International cuisine. Their best-sellers in main courses are Baby Back Ribs and Deconstructed Sinigang (has a modern twist, rice tastes like sinigang but no soup is involved in this dish). The cafe also offers a wide range of pastas and salads as well.
Moreover, they also offer breakfast meals such as; Eggs Benedict, Homemade Longganisa, Skinless Longganisa, Smoked Longganisa, etc.
Some of the drinks they offer include; apple yogurt and kiwi yogurt smoothies.
Hot beverages are also offered at the cafe like Coffee, Milk and Hot Chocolate.
When it comes to desserts, Espressini boasts of their cakes which are; Pistachio Sansrival, Mango Surprise, Matcha and Blueberry Cheesecake among others.
What Makes them Stand Out
Aside from their delicious food, Espressini’s prices are also very reasonable. Moreover, they also offer menu items that haven’t appeared in other restaurants yet here in Cagayan de Oro.
The number one selling point of this café is its classy ambiance and impeccable interior design.
The Owner’s Corner
Espressini Café is owned by a corporation composed of five family members but the main owners are Ms. Anna Rochelle Uy and her aunt, Ms. Anjanette Uy.
Ms. Anna Rochelle Uy took up Business Administration at Xavier University and this is her first venture into business. In addition, she gained her cooking skills by taking up Culinary Arts at the Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro (CIC).
She developed her passion for food when she was in High School as she recounts; “My family loves to cook and eat. We cook our own food when we hold our parties.”
Due to her love for food, this inspired her to enter the food business and open up her own café. Her favorite food is “deconstructed sinigang” and her favorite pastry is “pistachio sansrival cake” which are both available at Espressini.
