Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk is currently on its 10th anniversary and photography enthusiasts around the world are excited. This is no ordinary photo walk since it was founded by Scott Kelby (a famous American photographer, author and designer). This event has been well-recognized all over the world ever since it started in 2007. After it gained tons of followers, the event became the most-awaited one each year for photography aficionados.
Just last year, there were about 25,000 photographers coming from 196 countries (4,416 cities) who joined the photo walk. The participants were able to explore beautiful landscapes, experience camaraderie with fellow photographers and develop their skill in photography through this event. But in Cagayan de Oro, 58 individuals composed of professional photographers, students and hobbyists who joined the event.
On October 7, 2017 – our city will again participate at “Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk”. The Cdo NorthMin leg will be headed by Clement Dampal, a CDO-based Diversified Lensman, who also happened to be the Official Photo Walk Leader last 2015, and 2016 editions. Additionally, the Cagayan de Oro Northern Mindanao Leg is in partnership with the Camera Club of Cagayan de Oro.
The main goal of this event is to promote our city’s tourism by letting participants explore our city’s main attractions and take pictures of some beautiful sights around Cagayan de Oro. This will also gives the participants an opportunity to actively engage in social events promoting the quality of life. It will start at Gaston Park, near the St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral around 7 in the morning on the said date.
Aside of the Photowalk, registered participants of the Cagayan de Oro-Northern Mindanao Leg led by Mr Dampal, will automatically join the Local Photography competition which was introduced by himself last 2015, and have the chance to win exciting prizes from the sponsors.
Registered photographers joining the CDO-Northern Mindanao Leg photo walk are requested to bring the following:
-Digital Single Lens Reflex/Translucent cameras, and/or Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens cameras.
-Point-and-Shoot camera owners are also welcome to join.
-A good tripod.
-Extra shirt
-Bottled water
-Pocket money
In addition to the event, photo walkers will be able to upload their favorite picture to the popular Global Photo Walk contest for a chance to win a 1-year membership to www.kelbyone.com, a DSLR, gift cards, apps, camera bags and more. We will also name a Grand Prize winner and 10 finalists to be selected by Scott Kelby himself!
The event is free, but pre-registration is required and is limited to 50 participants only. Register at www.worldwidephotowalk.com, locate your city and complete the free sign up form.
