It’s Pink October and that means, it’s Breast Cancer Awareness month!  To kickstart this important advocacy of the month, Bigby’s Group of Companies, Thrive and Spruce came up with a “Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar” known as Courage & Faith.

It took place last Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Maison de Bonbon. This seminar is in line with Thrive’s campaign against breast cancer.

Breast cancer is a disease that has claimed millions of lives through the years. Many women may or may not have it that is why they need to become aware of it, have themselves checked and find out how they can determine the symptoms of this deadly disease to prevent them from acquiring it.

The event was hosted by Mommy Marge, an ABS-CBN TV Host for Mag TV show. At the seminar, several things were discussed about breast cancer and the group who made this event possible.

THRIVE Group

Thrive is a group of empowered women who are breast cancer survivors. The term “thrive” means to “reach out” or “aiming”. The group was named after it because they are reaching out to those who need their support in terms of breast cancer awareness, prevention and help in recovery. It’s like a support group for those in need.

The main accomplishment of Thrive is the cancer survivors who are also members of the group themselves. The group was able to save many cancer sufferers and helped them recover. Thrive offers awareness, encouragement and activities for their campaign against breast cancer.

To start the program, members of Thrive were interviewed by Ms. Marge in front and all of them shared their experiences and how their support group has helped them. Each hopes that through their experiences they can inspire others to have themselves checked in order to prevent the acquisition of breast cancer.

Supporters of Thrive

Spruce is an avid supporter of Thrive since 2012. Trish Tamparong expressed her continuous support in behalf of Spruce to Thrive’s advocacy in sharing awareness for breast cancer.

She also announced that this month it’s “Pink October” and Spruce will be giving away memo pads to their 1st one hundred customers. This is to help them learn about breast cancer and how they can prevent it.

Bigby’s Group of Companies also supports Thrive and this started last year, 2016.

Ms. Haylee Yu was requested to speak on stage and she shared to the crowd that she and her mom are also breast cancer survivors which is why they would love to help others as well become aware of the disease.

Missy Bon Bon Supports Pink October

After Haylee Yu’s short speech, the marketing officers of Bigby’s Group of Companies; James Tubeo and Nessalou Sabejon went to the stage and they shared that Missy Bon Bon has a new offering this month of October which shows their support to breast cancer awareness month, which is Pink October.

Missy Bon Bon is offering cute, pink cupcakes which are only available this month. Show your support to this cause by purchasing these yummy cupcakes at any Missy Bon Bon branch.

After James and Nessa launched the products, they called out 5 bloggers to participate in a game wherein they have to draw patterns on how to do breast examination on the Missy cupcakes. Michael Abonitalla of Cdo Bloggers won the contest.

In the last part of the program, Dr. Jackie Lao was interviewed in front and she shared everything that people need to know about breast cancer. She also announced that those interested to have themselves checked can visit CUMC Hospital since they’re currently offering 40% off on Mammogram this month only.
