Grind store officially opened its doors to mall-goers at Limketkai Center last August 19, 2017 – Saturday. They are located at the 2nd level of Limketkai Mall.

The event started with a blessing from a priest and the attendees included; Limketkai Corporate Admin staff as well as Limketkai Mall Manager, Ms. Ria Ledesma, well-known bloggers and a skateboard group attended the event together with Primer’s big bosses and Grind’s Operations Supervisor, Mich Prudente who came all the way from Manila.

The brand name was actually taken from a skateboarding trick called “grind” which means to slide the board’s trucks along a corner or thin surface. Grind store on a similar manner is able to live up to its name since its products are centered on adventure or action sports activities that bring about the adrenaline rush to its patronizers.

Grind had its first store in Nuvali, Laguna on October 26, 2012. As of the moment, they already have 20 stores in the Philippines with the Limketkai branch being the latest to open. There other branches are in in Centrio Mall, Harbor Point, Abreeza Davao, Cebu, Legazpi and some areas in Northern Luzon. We were able to have a chat with Ms. Mich Prudente, Grind’s Operations Supervisor. She handles all Grind stores in the country and other action-sports brands of Primer in the Philippines.

According to Mich, Grind is a multi-brand, action sports store. It is a one-stop shop for your skate, surf and lifestyle items. Aside from that, Grind also offers premium selections of apparel, footwear, accessories and equipment. Some of the brands they have in their store are the following; Herschel, Parkland, Bering, Billabong, Fitflop, Komono, Mitchell & Ness, Raen and Stance.

In other Grind stores, they also sell skate and surf equipment such as skateboards, surfboards, wheels and trucks for skateboards, leashes for surfboards, wax for surfboards and sunblock.

When asked what item can only be found at their Limketkai Grind store, Mich said they have “iQuishion Ergonomic Flip-flops” which cost around P1,690 – 1,890. They are surf sandals but are engineered with iQushion micro-bubble foam impact cushions for non-stop comfort. These sandals are lightweight, use ergonomic iQushion midsoles, have average fit, bio-mechanically engineered and have a soft jelly upper, they have seamless built-in arch contour, are ultra-supple and have slip-resistant soles.

Grind is a concept store of primer as a multi-brand store that offers International brands. When it comes to price, we can say that the price is just right given the high-quality of their products.

Some of their price ranges include:

  • Equipment – P 2,990 – 8,990
  • Caps – P 1,990 – 2,990
  • T-shirts – P 1,7990- 2,990

What makes their products unique from competitor brands? Mich said that they have products that use various types of technology in them like “Billabong” bags for example. Another good example are their board shorts which use a 4-way stretch material and is quick dry, thus making them perfect for beach outings or out of water purposes.Grind also offers waterproof bags from Herschel.

PROMOS and FUTURE PLANS

Currently, Grind Limketkai has an ongoing sale of 30% off on selected items from brands like Hurley and Billabong. In the near future, Grind plans to go online, creating an online store and hopefully add a “travel section” on their website.

Thru their online shop, customers can find the products missing on their stores and do purchases there. Soon, Grind will place iPads on their stores so that customers can shop or have products delivered through their website.

ENDORSERS and EVENTS

Grind has no endorsers but they do have brand ambassadors who are surfers and skateboarders. They also do product-seeding to promote their products.

Grind was able to sponsor events in the past like; the Bicol surf competition and Apple Tree Shore-breakers.

The brand’s vision is to be the leading and an internationally-recognized action sports store.

Grind’s mission is provide the widest, premium and up-to-date multi-category selection of both lifestyle and technical action sports in the Philippines, through converting mere aspirants to enthusiasts.
