East Coast Chef: Bringing in Flavors from the Eastern Parts of America to Your Plate

East Coast Chef is a newly opened restaurant located at the 2nd floor, Gateway Tower, Limketkai which opened its doors to the public last July 28, 2017.

It is owned by Joseph Villamil and Eleine Reyes.

The restaurant is unique not only because of its food but also because of its design and concept.

BOLD AND RICH FLAVORS FROM THE EAST COAST

According to one of the owners, Joseph, he got the name “East Coast Chef” since he went to East Coast cities in the US in 2013 and got his culinary training there.

BIO AND CAREER PATH

Joseph Villamil is an award-winning chef who took up Tourism at the University of San Carolos and HRM at Liceo University. After gaining his cooking and baking skills there, the school sent him to the United States and it is there where he got his certification for “International Kitchen and Restaurant Management”.

In 2012, he started doing buffets and catering services and after 2 years, he named his business “East Coast Chef”. He started building his market by advertising his venture in Limketkai. He and his family loves to cook and holds parties every now and then, this developed his good taste in food.

SIGNATURE FOOD and DRINKS

According to Joseph, they serve Intercontinental food at East Coast Chef.

This means that it’s a mix between, Filipino, Western and Asian cuisines. Some of these signature dishes include; Carbonara de Fettuccine, Baby Back Ribs and Grilled Salmon.

They also offer “On-the-Go” meals which are budget-friendly meals that cost P40-50 per plate.

Snacks and coffee beverages are also available at the restaurant every afternoon. For dessert, their Boston Banoffee Tarts are a standout to their customers.

WHAT MAKES THEM UNIQUE

What makes East Coast Chef stand out from the others? The number one factor is their ambiance, they’re strategically located in the heart of the city where lots of people flock on a daily basis.

Another thing that makes them unique is that they have hands-on chefs and Chef Joseph, one of the owners is one of them. He works hand in hand with Chef Prince (an award-winning chef) because they want to give only the best to their customers.

Aside from that, their ingredients are also from local suppliers which is why they are guaranteed to be fresh and of good quality. Moreover, East Coast Chef also has extraordinary techniques in cooking and they give high value to flavor which enables them to craft extremely delicious dishes.

DESIGN AND CONCEPT

East Coast Chef has two murals created by artistic genius, Emmanuel Mulawan.

You’ll immediately notice them when you enter the establishment because they’re visually appealing and very attractive.

These wall paintings give you that cool, modern, classy, minimalistic, cozy and warm resto vibe.

FUN FACTS AND TRIVIA

When asked what Joseph’s favorite restaurant is, he said; “Blue Crab” in the US because he worked there before, he loves the system there and this resto inspired him to open his own.

His favorite dish to eat is “adobo” and his favorite dish to cook is “baby back ribs”. The chef that inspires him is “Gordon Ramsay”.

CURRENT OFFERINGS AND PROMOS

They have an ongoing “Catering Package Promo” wherein if customers reach 100 persons, they get free event venue and free accommodation at Limketkai Luxe Hotel good for two persons.

The catering package is usually at P370 per head and this is already inclusive of 4 viands, rice, dessert and free drinks. It is served buffet-style. They also have a platter that is good for 20 persons which is one of their catering package offerings.

They also have an Eat-All-You-Can Lunch Buffet every Sunday, 11am to 1pm.

On a closing note, when asked what his advice to aspiring individuals who want to get into food business is, Joseph replied; “Experience is the best teacher and always keep your faith in God in strong.” He believes that these two elements helped him succeed in the industry.

In short, nothing is impossible as long as one is willing to work hard, learn from experience and trust the Almighty in order to succeed in anything.
